Course Description: This course will focus on assessing/treating the pelvic floor in adults. A review of pelvic floor anatomy, nervous system regulation, and mental health are addressed. Aim is to help OT’s identify/utilize appropriate interventions and when to refer out.
Learner Objectives:
- Identify at least 2 symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction
- Explain why pelvic floor health matters when engaging in occupations
- Discuss 2 ways to include a pelvic floor assessment into any adult practice setting.
- Demonstrate at least 2 introductory treatment techniques that can be used in any setting to address one of the following symptoms: urinary incontinence, prolapse (heaviness, pressure), pelvic pain, or hemorrhoids/excessive gas.
