How OT is Changing Birth Recovery

Occupational therapy practitioners are supporting patients during pregnancy and postpartum recovery in more settings than many clinicians realize. This event is designed for clinicians and students who want to better understand the growing role of OT in maternal health and birth recovery.

During this session, participants will:
- Explore how OT supports patients across pregnancy, hospital admission, the maternity unit, and the transition home
- Recognize common functional challenges after birth and how OT addresses activity tolerance, infant care, and return to daily routines
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with OB, nursing, and rehabilitation teams to strengthen early recovery and continuity of care
Short Description: This session will introduce practitioners working across hospital, home, telehealth, and outpatient settings who are helping patients navigate the transition from hospital to home, protect healing tissue, care for their newborns, return to daily roles, and thrive throughout the first year postpartum.
