Short Abstract: This presentation provides an overview of the laws and regulations that govern school-based OT evaluations and will discuss skilled observations, data collection, report writing and other methods to support students in an academic setting using an OT lens

Learner Objectives: 
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
1. Identify legal requirements as delineated in documents such as the IDEA, AOTA, PTOT, and TEA laws
2. Integrate the 5 aspects of the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain into Evaluations
3. Examine the importance of documenting skilled observation and incorporating clinical summary with assessment data as they relate to strengths and weaknesses at school and the importance of building these data sources into the Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) of an accompanying FIE document
4. Recognize the initial steps before beginning a formal evaluation process including identifying the referral source and building an occupational profile
