Learner Objectives:

  1. Learners will be able to understand occupational therapy’s influence on social justice from a historical perspective.

  1. Learner will identify occupational therapy’s current action and their influence on social justice.

  1. Learners will identify 2 opportunities to promote justice and health in the context of their daily practice.  

Outline of presentation: 

What is social justice? In this program we will exam the historic and current perspectives of social justice and occupational therapy.  We will look at OT in the context of current day to find ways that we can promote justice.  Occupational therapy’s rich history and broad scope of current practice poises us as a profession to create meaningful changes in the world around us.   

Application or Relevance to Occupational Therapy Practice:

Justice and Equality are two of the core values of our code of ethics as practitioners.  We have a responsibility to promote Justice through our daily practice.  This CEU event will promote awareness of the opportunities for practitioners to capitalize on for the to benefit our client, profession, and society.
