Category: Great Plains West District

Great Plains West CEU Meeting

DESCRIPTION:

This presentation will benefit those who want to understand the changing role of the school-based occupational therapist. The information to be presented is useful to practicing school-based occupational therapists who may not be familiar with Multi-tiered System Supports (MTSS) and who may be struggling with explaining their role in the school-based setting.  This information is also useful to occupational therapists working in the pediatric medical and clinical setting to help them understand school-based services that their clients may or may not be receiving.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Participants will understand specific federal legislation which has impacted the way school-based occupational therapists provide services.
  2. Participants will gain knowledge of the role school-based occupational therapists play in all levels of a multi-tiered systems support framework in education.
  3. Participants will participate in discussion on creative ways to inform teachers and parents on the ongoing challenge of explaining the role of occupational therapy in the school-based setting.
