Title: The Impact of Sensory Processing Challenges on the Child and how it
Affects the Caregiver and the Family: Is It Sensory, Behavioral, or Both?

Speaker: Leon Washington, PhD, OTR, LMSW, C/NDT
Assistant Professor, Occupational Therapy, Texas Woman University
Mr. Washington’s expertise is in children with special needs and their caregivers;
children who are abused and exposed to violence; and pediatric neurological deficits.

Participant Learning Objectives:

1.  Participants will be able to evaluate components of sensory and/or behavioral challenges that underlie performance and participation in meaningful occupations.
2.  Participants will be able to differentiate and analyze personal and environmental factors that enhance or inhibit occupational adaptation, performance, and participation in appropriate occupations.
3.  Participants will be able to create sensory or behavioral intervention strategies to enhance participation in occupations
