1st Annual Bubba Klostermann CEU Symposium

Lab with splinting/lecture and live demonstration.  There will also be a two hour pediatric presentation on sensory strategies and best practices.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the course, attendees should be able to work with splinting material, and make designs that are used in practice.

SCHEDULE:

9 - 11AM Static splinting: Fabrication, design, and implementation
  • Participants with be able to describe the theory and design of static splinting, organize a thought process for choosing good designs, and pick the type of material for the patient in front of you
11 - 11:15 Break
11:15 - 1:15 Thumb splinting: Function, design, and pearls
  • Participants will be able to address common thumb problems seen in the clinic, design and pick 3 great splints for thumb conditions, be able to describe tips and tricks to make a perfect fit
1:15 - 1:45 Lunch
1:45 - 2:15 What does TOTA do for you?
2:15 - 4:00 “Not Common Sense”: sensory system of medically/neurologically complex population
  • Attendees will be able to describe three different pediatric treatments for the neurologic patient populations presented, state three different types of complex pediatric diagnosis, demonstrate 2 different treatment strategies that work for the populations presented
4 - 4:15 Break
4:15 - 6PM Using the Relative Motion Orthosis 
  • Attendees will be able to define and understand relative motion and will be able to describe two splinting options and theory for extensor tendon rehab
