The Texas Occupational Therapy Foundation (TOTF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that was incorporated in the State of Texas in 1996. TOTF works in coordination with the Texas Occupational Therapy Association (TOTA), with its headquarters in the TOTA office. The Foundation works to increase scholarly inquiry in occupational therapy, to increase evidence in and for occupational therapy practice and to increase public awareness about the practice of OT. The idea behind the foundation is to support and promote research related to clinical practice specifically developed by Texas OT practitioners. The Foundation has an annual competition for small grants for Texas OTs. To date the Foundation has provided four grants all which have been successfully completed.  Each grant recipient has presented the results of her research at a TOTA conference.  For more information or to apply:

In conjunction with TOTA's annual Mountain Central Conference, TOTF sponsors a Research Forum in which research papers are presented, a poster session, and various discussion sessions about topics of interest related to practice and research. Additionally, the annual Breakfast with a Scholar is held at TOTA conference and has featured such speakers as Betty Abreu, Winnie Dunn, Kitty Reed, Helen Cohen, and Joan Rogers.

Funds for the Foundation are raised in various ways, including the Breakfast with a Scholar, a Basket Auction and an OT Quilt Auction are popular events to raise funds and awareness of the Foundation. The Foundation also raises funds through donations, through sales of Quick Reference to Occupational Therapy, 2nd ed., written by TOTA member Kathlyn Reed, Ph. D., OTR, FAOTA, and through the sale of Commemorative Quilt Notecards.
